I/O Device error

Hello,
Ok when i try to open my music files, they wont open and i get a sign pop up saying I/O Device error.
I have a windows Vista. Also it has been running slow recently and freezing, Ive ran virus checks and scanned my laptop but it says there are no viruses. Anyone know how i can view my music files? Or sort it out?
