IE, Firefox, not loading web pages

Hello,

I have purchased 2 Asus laptops which are both connected to a wireless network ( virgin broadband)

Viewing network connection I am connected to wireless internet on both laptops, the problem is that one laptop loads web pages the other does not.

The problem laptop I have installed AVG8 but now can not remove, also have IE and now downloaded Firefox as a browser to try and eliminate problem of not displaying web pages but still not showing web page.

I have pinged google and have came back with a result, have loked at DNS and does show DNS server also flushed DNS. Still not displaying web page it id driving me NUTS, have turned off windows firewall - can not turn on AVG or remove this programme. I think possibly AVG blocking the internet but can not get into it to disable or remove AVG to eliminate another avenue . Any suggestions?

Running Vista service pack 1

Hello,

Please check on your browser if it's on the offline mode!

Then also check your internet connection settings:

In Internet Explorer click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings

Please tick: Automatically Detect Proxy Settings

Press OK and restart Internet Explorer
