Making Master and slave HD

Hello,



Got a spare maxtor 40gb hd that i want to place on this old computer that's already got a WDC 80gb hd to try and make a server out of it. The problem is that in windows it doesn't show up although in bios it does. Might be something to do with master, slave relationship, i don't know... first time doing this. Any help?

u will have a jumper beside of the connector in hard disk,,u have to change its config,,,,,,,,,,u can get details from the lable on the hard disk,,u set jumpers according to lable given on hard disks ,,,definetly u can use your second hard disk,,

Hello


If you put two devices on the same IDE cable/channel, one must be designated as master & the other as slave. There are small jumper caps on the rear of the drives that must be set appropriately. There's *usually* a diagram on the label showing the jumper setttings, or the pins may simply be labled MA (master), SL (slave) or CS (cable select).

If you use cable select, both devices need to be set to CS, then the position on the cable determines which is master & which is slave. The device connected to the center plug is slave, the device on the end plug would be
