Hello,
I tried to install windows xp professional on my acer system. I made my first bootable device as cd rom and the second as HDD. The system boots from the cd and shows that setup is loading the files. And immediately after that a blue screen pops up and says a message. I'm not able to move further. the message states something like this setup could not continue if this is the first time...........chect for viruses on ur computer......run chkdsk-f....and so on....
So please somebody help me out in solving out this issue. How can I install windows. Is it possible. I am waiting for ur reply.....
Thanks a lot in advance.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi,

check for errors in the hard disk by running scanreg

if there is errors, the system will try to fix the errors.

make sure that the RAM is not faulty.

Bump.

Did anyone solve this? I am setting up a few Acer Aspire One's for a school district and whenever I try to boot from USB CD-ROM, the setup prep begins and then ends in a BSOD. I thought it might be the USBROM so I purchased another, I thought it might be the OS install disc so I used a fresh copy.

Thanks in advance

What are the specs of your system? This may have something to do with it. if you have a new system with over 3GB of ram remove all ram in excess of 3GB probably just leave 2GB in, after the install put the rest in once everything is set up, Win XP cannot Utilize more than 3GB so its a waste unless you are running 64bit edition or Vista or Windows 7 (Incredible BTW get the Free RC now) other thoughts are hardware incompatibilities, PCI express x16 2.0?. check it all out let me know the specs to the best of your knowledge, open up the computer if you have to and see if it has SATA cd-rom (DVD) drives and HDs. Etc.

What BIOS version are you using?

I tried searching for that configuration in the BIOS but I didn't find any. I am using the acer aspire one 150-1100

If you are installing XP previous to XP SP3, you will have to switch that setting from Sata to IDE in Bios.

Thank you for the info. It absolutely was the solution. It makes sense because its trying to load the SATA drivers as well and cant find them. It work perfectly for IDE.
