My friends laptop keeps blue screening

Hello,
ok so my friends computer keeps booting up but it gets stopped at the part where it says windows xp then it does the blue screen for like half a sec. then reboots again. what can i do to fix it so it willl finish booting up all the way?

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0
