Hai
Yes, as mentioned before, we need details on the PSU. It is the most important part of a build, and can cause an array of problems. If the PSU is fine, then it may be a motherboard issue. I have seen people RMA new motherboards because they were damaged when bought. If you put the computer yourself, did you do the standoffs correctly? Otherwise, there might be a short. It should not be the CPU...you'll notice it throttle back if it was overheating. If you installed it incorrectly, it would just shut down after 5 seconds of boot up. |
I have an elite groupe P4M900T-M2 it freezes randomly , black screen with blue forms on it, only resent to reset... |
Well there is one test you can performe, Fist you may have the same problem i had, you need to check the memory clock speed in the bios setting normaly in a p4 2.00 core 2 duo is a 667 hz so you need toset the clock to 333 mghz.
The sound driver is a pice o shit, i does not work, realtek driver update is also a pice of shit so i recomendo you to buy a new sound card.... |
Hi ituserit,
Did you ever get this issue resolved, as I am getting exactly the same issue, where XP freezes sometimes after 5 seconds of the desktop being on the screen, and sometimes after an hour. Reset button is only way to get out of it. My set up is Biostar GF7050-M7 with an Intel D dual core 3.4Ghz chip and 4GB ram. I to have tried reinstalling XP, and testing harddrive with SeaTools. I too only have same software I have on my old and reliable machine. Any help you can offer appreciated. Regards, Dib. |
I have the same problem...GF7050M-V mobo running Core 2 Duo 2.667hz. Tried removing drivers, changing BIOS settings. When installing XP SP2 (updated to SP 3 after install), was not able to install unless switched off the multiprocessor in BIOS (now running single core), and system worked o.k. for a week. Now, even on single core, system freezes up after about 3-5 of use, regardless of which program I'm running. |
Hi,
I don't know if it is any help, but when my PC came back from the supplier, although the mobo looks to be exactly the same, the BIOS is now an American Megatrends BIOS. So maybe they flashed the BIOS, I dodn't know. The PC has certainly been completely reliable since I have had it back, and fingers crossed it stays that way!!! Incidentally, they also replaced the SATA cable, but I think that was to stop the following warning I was seeing in the System event log. "The driver has detected that device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 has predicted that it will fail. Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent." Regards, Dib |
Thanks, Dib. Did you send back to the supplier under some sort of extended warranty or just the Biostar warranty? I may do the same. The only things I have not tried yet (b/c I'm not an electronics expert) is to look for a short on the board or inside the case, or installing alternative video or audio card.
I may try to flash the BIOS and see if that helps, per your message. Regards, FB |
Hi fb,
I sent it back to the supplier, as I bought it (via ebay) of them only a few weeks ago. I got onto them after posting my last message to ask them what they did, as it seemed to fix the issue. The replied that they had changed the mother board (I presume to a newer revision, hence the different BIOS - So maybe they didn't flash it after all!). I presume this stopped the freezing and crash restarts. They also changed one of the sticks of Ram, the hardrive (for another error I was getting in the system event log) and the sata cable for a better quality one. Before flashing the BIOS, if you have two sticks of Ram in, try each one individually the first slot without the other, and see if that stabilises the system. If you only have one stick, try and borrow a stick from someone to try. If that doesnot work maybe try flashing the BIOS, but at your own risk. The only time I have ever tried that it killed the MOBO. But that was back in Win 98 days!!!! Hope that helps! Dib. |
I have a laptop with this chipset an I menaged the problems with tweaking the graphich driver. If you are using the integrated graphics this is the solution.
1. Download the latest drivers from viaarena.com 2. Unzip the file and fint this configuration file dc04emb 3. Edit the file using notepad 4. find tle line UseAGPDMA, defult is 1 change it to 0 5 save the file 6. install the drivers. Also download the latest chipset drivers. I expirence a masive improvment in loading times. My laptop loads vista in 42 seconds. My conf: t2050 core duo 2048 Ram p4m900 chipset Chrome 9 IGP graphics |
