Hello,
Hi everyone there
Am new to this forum, looks interesting here ,
anyways i have a problem with my HP PAVILLION DV6265US laptop.
It was working well, suddenly got struck once, when i restarted the system its not opening, i se many funny messahes my lappy is showing me..
when i switch on power to lappy its saying
"initializing and establishing link" ....then it says
"media test failure" check media cable
exciting intel boot agent.
now i went to BIOS and check the "Diagniostics" in which i found "Hard disc self test" , when i do the test it says
"NO IDE DEVICE "
So i had taken a connector and connected the hard disc to another PC of mine but in that it says , device not found, or when am trying to install the hard disc its saying ur hard disc might not work properly ..basically hard disc is not getting detected.
Now wat to do ...can anybody suggest me on this....

If the hard disk is not readable on another computer it's likely broken. I suggest you buy a new hard disk.

Good Luck

Hi

If you haven't got all your old data backed up then you might want to take the dead hard-drive to a data-recovery company and pay them to get yur data back. It does ost quite a lot to do this but if yu were using Linux they might be able to do this faster than normal and so perhaps not be quite so hugely expensive.

I assume you tried different leads when you switched it into the other machine? I also assume the drive is quite old and not under guarantee any more otherwise you might be able to get the original suppliers to suggest how to proceed

Good luck and regards from
Tom

1. IDE laptop harddrive from HP-dv5000 converted to USB external hard drive with two USB port hookup cable since the drive works off hub power.
2. hard drive detected with no problem for long time on my toshiba A105-S4384 and HP-dv5000 laptops
3. No detection on either laptop around Nov 1, 2009, which is about the same time I upgraded to AVG9.0 from AVG8.5 for both laptops
4. Hard drive is invisible to both lap tops, does not show up anywhere in either laptop

THINGS I HAVE TRIED ON BOTH LAPTOPS

1. Uninstall all USB drivers and reboot
2. Plug into various USB ports all combinations----no result
3. Leave USB plugged in and reboot--------no result
4. Try different cable set------no result
5. turn power management for USB devices off and back on-----no result
