Hello,
My computer was recently was infected with the System Security virus. I've managed to get rid of that through a combination of Spyware Doctor and manual deleting of the virus program as well as various registry keys. But now I have other problems with my machine. These are just a few:

1. Copy/Paste function not working-no error messages; it just won't work
2. cannot move documents or files around--which prevents me from moving data to a memory stick or flash drive
3. no icons when I got to "Show all connections"--thus no internet connection-I've tried to uninstall and reinstall, as well as trying to start various "services" but I can't get RPC to start because it gives me an error 2, saying that I don't have the file
4. I cannot burn CDs--tells me "An error using COM/OLE occurs. Please check the installation of COM on your machine"--thus, again, I can't get my data off my machine

Those are the 4 main problems to start with because it means I can't get all of my data off my hard-drive or download anything from the web that might help me. I've tried the system restore function but it won't work. I'm on a Sony Vaio laptop VGN B100B running Windows XP Professional with SP3. Which means I didn't get recovery disks with my machine (nor did I make them when I first got the machine). And Vaio's system restore wizard does not work either.

So, I really need to get at my data and get it off the machine or I need to fix the main problems. Any ideas on where to start?
