Modem from laptop to pc

Hello,

I am currently working on a laptop with windows 2000 and a usb port cable modem. I have brought home my old PC and have been trying to install this cable modem onto the PC. I can get it to install the disc for the cable modem and shows it as a network adapter, but will not detect the modem when I try to install and setup the modem. As far as I know the ports are set up fine, but not sure, I am kinda lost. Help.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello

How old is your "old PC"? What OS is it running? Does the modem also have a Cat5 connection?
