Internet Explorer will not stay on

Hello,
My laptop was working just fine. It stated that upgrades were ready to install (Internet Explorer 8) I clicked on it. My computer restarted. Ever since... when I click on Internet Explorer to briefly flashes on then goes out. I have ran all my virus protection. It states that one problem was fixed but nothing has changed. HELP!!!!

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello there all you will have to do to solve this is to do a system restore:

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools
Then Select System Restore!

Choose a date when your pc was working normally, then click on Next.
Let the process to be done
restart your pc!
