Hello,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CR123E which has installed a MASHITA DVD-RAM UJ 850s. My problem is that the device will read DVDs and CDs but will not burn any data, audio or video. It starts burnig but in just a few seconds it say that it is a bad disk and terminates the operations. I have tried several types of disks both CD and DVD and it is the same problem. I have tried the register fix that so many people seem to find fixes but again nothing except it made a mess of Itunes and I had to do a restore. Hs anyone got any other ideas or fixes? Thanks

Drew

Hi,

make sure that the disk drive can write CDs, some are just readers, not writer.

or try to update the driver of the drive.

this should fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply. It is definely a writer because sony makes to cut restore dics (they don't provide them). I tried the driver update and all that did was screw up Itunes (removed something that needed). I have also tried some of the other suggestions and non have worked, it is very frustrating.
