Hye,

You will have to check the cables connection which connects from your motherboard to your CD ROM!
Just open the case and then remove the cable and place it again!
Start your pc and go to the BIOS by pressing DEL or F2!

Just try to see if your computer detects your CD ROM!

If nothing happens, you will have to replace the cable to new one!

The ide conection is on the motherboard there isn't a cable that I can see only the socket on the back of the slim dvr player and inside the compartment it seems to be onboard. There is however two wires i Believe to be the audio wires one white the other black going to the sound card. my acer 5520-5912 will not detect my cdrom either only once in awhile and will dissappear when i try to play a dvd but it will play a cd when it decides to appear. Setting it to first boot makes no difference when it gets detected. I even bought a new dvr-k17rs player
thinking it was my prob, but it wasn't. I'm beginning to believe the damn thing runs to hot or the mobo has gone bad. The gpu Diode is like 93 c. all the time and the fan dosen't run continuously like you think it should. laptops
are no PC they are a breed all by themselves and can't even be maintained like a normal desktop at all. I'm going to buy a usb combo burner next if that doesn't work I'm gonna shoot it. BANG!!! dead mofo anyway so it seems.
