My msn live wont sign me in

Hello,

i recently upgraded my computer its a windows XP ive installed internet explorer 8 and downloaded and installed windows live messenger, for some reason every time i try to sign in it wont let me it says signing in then trouble shoot comes up and just goes back to my email addy and password

please help me to solve this mystery
