Can anyone help?

I have a laptop that only has 15gb of memory, most of which is already used up with work stuff i just cannot delete. While trying to clear space i have accidentally deleted Windows Live Messenger (latest one). I have tried deleting everything to do with it and download it again. When i download it it says "Your computer has a newer version of Windows Live Messenger than the one you are trying to install. To install an older version, first remover the current version" after that it says how to delete it. I have tried this and i cant find the thing to delete. After saying that it has failed to install it comes up with an error message. Windows Live Messenger Setup "Windows Live Messenger Setup has failed with error code: '1603'. Please go to the Windows Live Messenger website and then gives me the site address and tells me to download the latest version of Windows Live Messenger" i then do this and it says i already have it downloaded. HELP PLEASE
