Hello, I'm getting a no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key. I put the recovery disk in, but it doesn't change the message.

Hey, the same thing is happening to my laptop (running Vista Basic) after it was dropped. I'm not 100% sure on this but it reckon its a problem with the hard drive, I'm currently just googling to see if i can fix it myself without calling in a computer guy.
I'll come back if I find a fix

Try to disable network boot and boot in hard disk or what you would like to used to format your laptop.
if you don't want to format your laptop, you oly want to remove the media test failure just disable network boot.. and if is come back again go to the msconfig and check the noguiboot.ini it will not display the windows logo..
if it is coming back again one of your laptop driver is not working.. like bluetooth
