Downgrade vista

Hello, I will try to make this as clear as possible........

I have a the dell installation disc for XP pro SP2 from the inspiron 1525 that went through a fire.

I now have and inspiron 1525 with vista on it... What a major mistake!

I thought is would be a simple switch have the the xp dell install, but have since found that thought to be wrong. Or not as simple as I thought.....

Can anyone help me out with instruction, step by stp, for a laymen/women?

Configuration: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.0.11

To use XP on the dell inspiron you will have to change the sata operation to IDE on your bios! Change the AHCI settings!

Then Insert your Windows XP installation disk!

I believe I already did that and try through the normal routine and nope, notta. Unless I changed to SATA in the wrong fashion. I know I enabled it.


Will find the instructions again and check it out
