How to turn on .NET Messenger thingy.

Hello,
since i've installed the latest version of MSN, i've seemed to have had lots of problems, my MSN wont work now because theres an error with the key port and it says my .NET messenger or something is turned off, will that have anything to do with it? if it does, how do you turn it on, i'll be so happy if anyone can fix my problem!
i love MSN so much :(
