check the voltage. in my experience the motherboards from the pentium 2 era slot type cpus only work on 2.05 volt cpus. some of the p3 slot cpus use 1.65/1.75 volts and wont work. The p3 slot cpus usually have the voltage printed along the top blAack plastic edge along with speed/ fasb/ cache, whereas the p2 cpus do not show the voltage (but are usually 2.05 volts). I have upgraded loads of p2 pcs to p3 but you need to check you use 100mhz fsb / 2.05 volts in virtually all cases |
