Hello,
i am a fan of the call of duty games but i have never been able to play call of duty 4 modern warfare, or call of duty world at war online with my ps3. i use is wireless router because i live in an area where there is no wired connection available to me. i can log in but when i go to find game and click any type of game it will go to the waiting lobby and it says looking for 5 more players and it just sits there and never finds any more players so i never get to play online. if somebody knows why it does this and how i can fix this i would greatly appreciate it.

Configuration: PS3

I can't play a video file. What's wrong? ShowYou probably need codecs. The one I use is called the K-Lite Codec Pack which includes a nice bunch of codecs. You might also want to try VLC Media Player which features a host of codecs built-in.

Hi I had so much trouble with call of duty world at war that I almost gave up but I found the answer. When your sitting in the lobby it is because other peoples computers cannot see yours because your routers firewall is blocking ports. If you enable port forwarding or a DMZ in your routers configuration settings it can help. But if your inexperienced with networking I would recommend updating the routers firmware and enabling UPNP on both the router and PS3 which enables the playstation3 to request the router to open the ports automatically. You can find out how to change your routers setting in the routers manual or on the manufactures website and how to enable UPNP on the PS3 on the internet. If your playstation shows a poor wireless signal that could also be a problem but all you have to do is choose a different wireless channel in your routers settings until you get a near full signal. I'm sorry about the lack of detail but I am merely guiding you towards the right information because it would take me forever to explain in full. I hope my information proves helpful and I hope that if my solution doesn't work that you consider others solutions for possibly a different problem to mine.

Hey guys i had the same problem for my ps3 all i did was back out of the games and click on the same game type until it brought me to a game, also maybe the time zone you live in is totally different then countries that have a lot of players. If you have any questions talk to me on Xbox or Ps3, xbox360= eli268 Ps3=arsenalkl, arsenalsb

Its your connection, my friend has exactly the same problem, i suggest moving your PS3 closer to your router (it will receive a better connection then) or the Router closer to the PS3. Also, the reason why u sit in the lobby waiting for players to join is because your the host and they cannot connect as your connection is unable to host them.

Gl

P.S: If you are able too u can buy an ETHERNET cable and plug it into the back of your router into your PS3 this way you will always have an excellent connection and you should only ever not get put into a game if your actual connection is slow.

Thanks and again Good Luck.

All u have 2 do is go to private match stay their for a minute and then join servers used to have that problem but fixed by itself strangely after a year when i got a better router it is most likely because the router cant handle the games bandwith so what you need to do is get a really good router an a really good service like comcast which is what i use.

Right, my mate who lives in the country side suffers from the same problem, the first thing he did was use ethernet high speed cable, this helped him out and was able to connect to game but he has a very poor con even with ethernet. The next thing he did was phone up his ISP (Internet Service Provider) (In this case Virgin), on doing so he asked for his current speed in mbps and it was 1mbps, this is quite slow so he asked for the best but he can only get a 2mbps connection. Me, myself have a 10mbps using ethernet and i am able to connect to games easily and become the host within a few games.

What i am suggesting for you todo is:

Insert ethernet into either your computer or laptop, then use a download speed checker and check the speed, do a server which is close to your area then one which is half way across the world, just note them down and compare to people who are able to connect to online on ps3.

Phone up your ISP, ask for current speed, then see what the maximum speed you can get i would say u need a upto 5mbps minimum inorder to connect to CoD4 online on ps3 otherwise u will not succeed, but you may try 2mbps if u wish just to check.

Also, make sure u are on broadband and NOT dial up or phoneline cuz there 56k(MEGA SLOW).

Reply if you still need furtherhelp, Good Luck.

This is probably the best advice i can give to you,

goto the call of duty 4 or call of duty 5 websites and look on there forums, there more likely to have an answer to your question than i have, it might take some time finding it but im sure your problem will be resolved by them.

I have similar problem as ^
I can join games easily but when it comes to private games, I can neither host nor join my friend's game. It always gives the 'This game session is no longer available'. I have approx 17mbps ADSL2+ so there shouldn't be any problem, and I also uses ethernet cable. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks.

Hi,phone up your isp and ask for inter leaving to be turned off,if you google inter leaving it will say it slows your connection by 20% . ive had the same problems and when i finally do play the lag was real bad and i couldn't kill um. im with virgin adsl, but not for much longer to much throttling at peak times , im also use ps3... since inter leaving has been turned off ive less lag and a better ping, good luck

You dont need to ring any body for your speed. Just go to www.speednet.net and click on the yellow icon over your country and it will test your speed.
