Weird problem with portable dvd

Hello,

i just bought a brand new Philips portable dvd player and whenever I play a dvd (doesnt matter which one) theres a small skip that occasionaly keeps happening during the movie. it lasts for about half a second.

Is this normal because on that back of the dvd movie case it says in small letters "layer transition may trigger a slight pause."

Could that be it?^^

Hello

There maybe dust on the DVD lens itself. The "layer transition may trigger a slight pause." means that it is a dual layer DVD, meaning that there are two layers. When it pauses half way through the movie it is switching to the next layer, but this should only happen once. There are products that will clean DVD lens just take a look for them.
