Hello,
I recently purchased the Sims 3 game for my Dell PC and i have been having problems with the game crashing. I could play the game for about 10 minutes, then the monitor would turn black, yet me CPU would still be running, and the only way i could restart my computer was by unplugging the whole system and turning it back on. I have heard people have had problems with their video card on their computer being disabled... any ideas?
Thanks

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

Hye,

This is quite risky for your system! you don't have the requirements to play this game!
You will need to upgrade your system, power supply and cooling methods!

You have an integrated video card, no?

Your system probably doesn't have the correct video card, PSU, or cooling necessary to run this game. That said, most issues with running this game stem from the video card.

Running a game when your system doesn't have the specs for it could result in permanent system damage, so that would be negligible on your part as a computer owner.

Use this site to check what you computer is lacking, and upgrade as necessary. From what you've said, your video card isn't up to spec, but this will confirm whether that suspicion is true or not.

Once again, do not run Sims 3 if you are NOT spec'd for it.

I'm having the same problem, only on a mac. I've got a 24" iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of ram, and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS. My system will run Crysis on high extremely well; however, The Sims 3 is having problems. It'll unexpectedly freeze and the only way to quit the game is to hard reboot my computer; my computer isn't freezing, it's only the game. I've even boosted the fans to see if overheating was the issue, but no such luck. Just wish someone had an answer..

I have had the Sims 3 for 1 day, I can play in build mode with no problem as soon as it goes to play mode it crashes. It isnt my computer, it is a bran new gamer computer.
It is EA...they need programmers that have knowledge to program.
Alot of people are having major problems with sims 3.
I will go back to 2, it doesnt crash.

I have tried Sims 3 on 3 computers all of which pass the Sims spec test on the EA website and it crashes the computer - blue screen of death - before anything comes up. Any ideas?
