Hello,
Trying to install a RAM stick into the gf's laptop but it won't boot up afterwards...
I have tried the stick in my laptop and it works ok in there - I have also recheked on the net and the memory is right for her model - HP Pavilion ZN5200 - Notebook 200-pin PC2700 DDR333 SODIMM.

Any ideas? The battery is completely dead and it only runs normally on AC power.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hye, you should verify the frequency... if you added one more ram it must be of the same frequency as the old one!

Poop. The memory stick is 333mhz, what am I matching this against? And where do I look for it?
Cheers!

Oh, and also, the laptop only had a fixed memory before i tried to put the new one in, so I haven't actually taken anything out (other than the new one which isn't working!!!)

You should look at the in-built RAM. If its 512 MB and you are trying to put in a 1 GB RAM it won't work because it will have a frequency mismatch. If its 512 MB, you can only put in another 512 MB. Also Be sure whether its a DDR RAM or DDR2 RAM.

1. Make sure the RAM is ALL THE WAY IN.
2. So you dont see the gold pins
3. The Laptop WILL work.

Same problem - solved by pushing the memory in a bit further so gold pins were not showing. Thanks a million for the help!
