My computer cannot boot after 1 GRAM upgrade

Hello,

my computer restarts itself automatically after i installed 1gig DDR2 ram. it cannot open windows even when i select "safe mode, or last known configuaration that worked" - i restarts when i press either one of these options.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0
