How important is it that i have fast LAN on my motherboard ?

up a network with other computers that is known as a LAN (Local Area Network) the faster the card the faster data transfers.

Fast LAN cards are also important if you are going to subscribe to high speed internet again here you want to get the most value for your money, today modems talk to the LAN adapter at speeds up to 100MBs so adding a 100/1000Mbits NIC will be wise, although 10/100Mbits adapters will function just as well.

To say how important one is, I would say very, it opens the doors of possibility for setting up your box in LAN and Internet scenario's.
