Hello,
Last night I shut down my acer laptop while windows vista was updating. I shut it down by holding the power button. Now when I start it up it comes up with a screen giving me two options. One is start up repair and the other is start windows normally. I go through the first option first then the secong and when I go through the second the screen just goes black but it is still running. I really need help because my parents will kill me if they find out.

Configuration: Acer aspire 6920G-6A3G25Bn
Windows vista home premium

Hi,
start up the repair mode and post the result.
or you may press F8 repeatedly when booting your computer to entyer the boot options.
then select safe mode, and you may try to do a system restore.
>start
>all programs
>accessories
>system tools
>system restore

If I found the disk that would wipeveverything from my laptop and restored it to how it was when I got it, would that work?
