Hard with xp pro, 120gb, sata.
Try to reinstall windows from cd.
Steps: enter, <F8>, enter... and when ask for fresh instalation or R, types R because want to save datas, xp goes to copy system files, and when done, at point "setup saving configuration" wait...wait, then displayed:
"Setup can not set the required Windows XP configuration information. This indicates an internal setup error. Contact your system administrator. "
Take out hdd from this machine and put it to another - same thing.
Make clone (Northon Ghost 2003) - same,
Go to repair and fix MBR - nada ...
What to do, try more?

Can't you just backup the data and do a clean install? If you have the drivers for the mother board, that's what I would do. If not, you should be able to install it without the R option and without formatting. Backup the data not matter which way you go. |
