Hello,

I do have a sony vaio laptop VGN-FE31M which is two years old as of now. Recently my DVD drive with the following configuration DVD+ -RW/ + -R DL/RAM has stopped reading certain kind of CDs. But it does read certain cds. I have burned many cds and now they cannot be read on my DVD drive. The trouble started suddenly as it was not detecting any files burned on the Imation CD-RW disc which is 1x-4x compatible. Early i have burned many of these imation cds and even have read them in the same drive. I have erased and even rewritten files which had no trouble intially. So is this the problem with the lens in the DVD drive..? Do i need to replace the DVD drive.? Now i am can hadrly read few CDs only on my drive. Even i am not able to read normal CDs too using this drive. Only very limited cds can be read.. even.. which is not RW..

Should I change the drive or should i sent it to sony for service...?

Please do help.. uregently ...

Thanks,
Joe

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi,
you just need to upgrade the firmware of the drive.
you may get it in the official website of Sony.
