DVD player will not play DVDs

Hello,

My DVD player on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron E1505, will play copied DVD's but won't play the original DVD's. It keeps saying no disc inserted, please install disc. I can hear it spinning, but it's off and on. Any idea on what could be wrong and how would I fix this?

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello this depends on the DVD player you are using to open the DVD files.

Try to use VLC media player

Thanks for the info but it doesn't work. The DVD player itself doesn't want to run the DVD, which is odd because I can run CD's and DVDs that are copied from another disc.

The same thing happened to me. What helped was just to clean the lens.
