Hello,
My HP Pavilion ZD7160us stopped powering up. I had the same problem last year and it was the power jack I had it replaced and everything was working fine. Last week stopped powering up again. So, I had the power jack replaced again. I also purchased a new battery and a power adapter. However, now the when I attach the power adapter to the computer the green light on the brick part goes off and it starts beeping/chirping at a constant rate. When I unplug it from the computer, the green light comes on and it stops making any noise.
The laptop will not power on either. Thinking it may be the new power adapter, I tried it with my older power adapter and it does the same exact thing. Has anyone else experienced this or have an idea what may be wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Configuration: Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7.0

I think there's a problem with the power input plugging area on your laptop.

Thank you for your response. Could you elaborate a little more. I had the power jack replaced on there. Could that still be the problem.
Thanks again for your help.

It sounds like the tech who soldered your jack may have cross connected the positive and negative portions of your new jack. I think your power adapter is recognizing this and beeping to let you know you have a short circuit. I'd check the soldering job to make sure. There are useful links about the correct way to take your laptop apart at http://www.notebookpowerjacks.com

Good luck!

I've been having problems with my laptops three month after purchasing them. Twice I sent them back to get fixed.
Now, it's been over a year since both laptops have the same power issue. We've been out for over a year. HP didn't wanna fix them cause we out of warranty.
Stay away from HP laptops. They know that they have this power issue for a long time. You better off getting a Dell or some other brand.
Both laptops with the same Problem?
Something is really fishy!
