Game causes system to shut off

Hello,
I have been having the same problem. It only seems to happen on games with 3d. and i think that most of my specs are quite sufficient.

My specs are
Core 2 Quad 6600
8gb ram
1.7 terabytes of hd space
ati radeon hd 2600xt videocard

Configuration: Windows
Firefox 3.0.10

It sounds to me like a DirectX problem. Reinstall DirectX.

Reinstalling seemed to work but still started to shut off. but a friend suggested that i take everything apart and clean it then put it back together. i think i will try that now.
