Formatting with start up disk
Before Formatting
Back of your important data
Make a back up of all your important data, documents, contacts and emails, music etc.
Verify that you have all in hand
Start up disk
Windows installation CD
CD drivers and utilities (all drivers can be downloaded on internet)
CD for internet connection kit and programs
Make sure the boot disk starts with the CD player
It is very important to ensure that the boot disk starts with the CD player. After formatting, you’ll have access to this drive to re-install the OS.
Insert the CD in the CD-drive and start your computer.
select "
with support of the CD player" (with the numeric keys)
confirm by pressing "
Enter"
a: \> appears.
Insert the CD Windows
As a result of
a: \>, type d: (
d: is the drive CD) and confirm with "
Enter"
A new line appears:
d: \>
Type command Dir and press "
Enter"
If CD content displays, you can proceed.
Formatting
From the line d:\>, go back to the floppy drive by typing
a:
Press
Enter to confirm.
In the line ->
a:\> , type format
c : just before the line.
“C” is an example of the partition that need to be formatted. You should choose the partition name that need formatting.
Then select
“Enter”.
After formatting, you will be asked to name your hard disk. Type a name (optional) and press “
Enter” to confirm.
You can now proceed with drivers and utilities installation.
