Forcing your computer to switch off







Sometimes you will notice that your computer is taking too long to switch off. It can be either due to some programs that are blocking the entire system or this can be another sort of problem linked to your hardware. However, in order not to damage anything in your system, it is highly recommended to either use your CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose the End Task option to close the programs that are avoiding the computer to switch off, or to force your computer to switch off if this option is not working.

NOTE: Do not unplug the power cable directly. This will damage both your software and hardware.

What you can do is to press and hold your power button for at least 5-7 seconds until it switches off. Do not attempt this many times. If you have done this once, you should get your computer checked by a technician as soon as possible to resolve this kind of issue.
