Buffer underrun

It may happen that when you are burning a CD or DVD, that you are prompted by the buffer underun error message.

This is due to the fact that your CD/DVD burner will continuously write data during the burn process, thus data must be transferred without intermission. CD/DVD burners possess a buffer memory allowing them to store temporarily data, reducing the risks of having any intervals during the burn process.

But if data is not transferred rapidly enough to the buffer memory this can results to buffer underrun errors.(this ma y due to a lack of system memory, bottlenecks at CPU level or problems related to your hard disk.

Solutions:
  • Restart your PC before launching burning process.
  • Close all unnecessary applications and programs.
  • Activate DMA option on your burner and hard disk.
  • Reduce burning speed.
  • Defragment your hard disk regularly.
