Copyright: creative work must be registered
Myth
For an original work to be copyright protected it must be registered to an institution
Reality
Copyright is a legal concept under Berne convention giving exclusive rights over an original work to it's creator for a limited period. Basically Berne convention support the fact that a creative work (text or image) is automatically protected upon its creation without any needs to be declared or asserted.
The author doesn't have to register or apply (normally require some kind of payment) to any institution, for the recognition of his work. He is automatically entitled to all copyrights (who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, etc).
