Samsung Omnia i900 Contacts issue

I am using a Samsung I900, when I copy all of my contacts from my sim card and place it into the Samsung I900, when I receive calls or a text I get only the number but not the name of the person.
So I try to copy the contacts from my sim to the phone, in the end I have two entries of the same contact. How to correct this?

How can I choose the name of the person alone to appear when I am receiving a call and not the number?

Solution


Some devices have that problem. This is happening because the number of digits in the phone number is different to the default number settings. Many countries use 8 digits and by default, some devices are setup with the default value 8 in the following registry key: 

HKCU\Control Panel\Phone\CallIdMatch


Change the value to 7 and restart. Now, that value might be different in your country. Change it accordingly.

Open Contacts on your device and click
>Menu
>Options.

Clear the Area code box and click OK.
