Running Metal Gear Solid (1) On Vista







Issue


You want to play some old games , such as Metal Gear Solid on your new PC.
Installation went smooth but when you try to launch the game, you get an error message prompting you that you can't run the game in hardwaree mode , but only in software software. Your desktop will flick (temporary black screen) and then everything is back to normal.

The game will not launch

Solution

  • You need to run the game in compatibility mode.
  • Right click on the game shortcut(on desktop)
  • Select properties
  • Compatibility mode Option
  • Set it to Windows 98 or Windows 2000 and try again, it should work.
