Double clicking on drive C opens a search window

Issue

Double clicking on C: drive opens a search window.
Even after updating my antivirus and make a scan, the problem is still persistent.

Solution

  • It may be due to a problem in the registry:
  • Go to start>run then type regedit.
  • Expand to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Drive/ shell
  • Modify the default and change the value data to "NONE".

Note that: manipulations made to the registry can result to serious problems, please read this article:
Make a back up of the registry
