Error Message: You need permission to perform this action
When trying to delete a file or folder, following error message appears:
You need permission to perform this action
You've certainly lost administrator rights on the file or folder.
To recover these rights, just follow the following procedure:
Open Security tab
On Vista and Windows 7, the Security tab is displayed by default.
Accessing file
- Right click on the file/folder
- Properties
- Security
- Advanced
- Properties tab
- Click on Edit
- Select your name/your session
- Click on "Apply" then "OK".
Re-assign access rights
- Right click on the file/folder
- Properties
- Security
- Groups or user names
- Click on "Edit"
- Click on "Add"
- Write username/session
- Below, select "All access allowed"
- Click on "Apply" then "OK".
You have take control of administrator rights of the folder or file. You can do what you want.
