What is your MAC address?






If you want to know what your MAC address is, this is an easy process. MAC stands for Media Access Control and the MAC address enables you to locate the network adapters address of your PC.

All you have to do is to follow the steps below:

Windows

  • Step 1: Go to the Start Menu and select the Run option
  • Step 2: Enter cmd to open the command prompt window.
  • Step 3: Hence copy and paste the command ipconfig'. For XP users, use the command 'getmac' instead.
  • Step 4: You will find the MAC address in the section labeled Physical Address. It is easily recognized as a series of 6 groups of numbers and letters.


Linux


In a shell type:ifconfig
The MAC address is :HWaddr
