PC will not boot after installing a heat sink

If you change the CPU cooler (heatsink + fan) on your PC and after that your PC turns off randomly.

Solution
  • This is probably due the thermal paste. To remedy:
  • Remove any thermal paste on the heatsink;
  • Apply a thin layer of thermal paste.
  • Check if the fan is running well and in the right direction.
  • Try again, it should work properly.
