[Firefox] Forcing compatibility of add-ons
It may happens that your version of Firefox is incompatible with one of your add-ons or extension, which may occur in particular when you switch to a beta version.
Disable the compatibility check
There may be a small trick to handle that, but its recommended that you backup your profile before making these manipulations
To do this, you must disable the compatibility check for add-ons:
In the address bar, type: about:config / ok
A list appears:
- Right Click>/New/ Boolean
- Enter the option name: extensions.checkCompatibility
- Set value (true), to: false
- Restart Firefox.
It is possible to re activate this check by choosing value: true.
Reverting changes or troubleshoot problems
Firefox does not work properly after the operation!!
Following this change, one or more add-ons may the browser crash.
- Start Firefox in Safe Mode:
- Return the value of extensions.checkCompatibility true.
- Restart Firefox normally.
- If your profile has been altered, reset it manually or using MozBackup.
You can try to find out which module causes the problem by disabling all, then reactivating them one by one until Firefox crashes again, then disable faulty module.
