Adding a MSN contact can infect your computer

Myth

A new and terrible virus is able to hack your computer and steal your personal data, if you add some e-mail to your MSN contacts.

Reality

FALSE

Explanations

You've probably received one of these messages in your mailbox. These are in reality, hoaxes: the addition of a contact in your list does not create a risk of a possible virus infection.

Technically, it is not possible (yet) to infect a computer by adding a contact. However, you can very well be infected with one of your contacts, due to the MSN virus. This occurs if the contact with whom you discuss is infected.
