Firefox already running but not responding






Error message


In the case that you are prompted by a window saying "Firefox is already running but not responding", when opening firefox.


This is because you have already open Firefox before, and that you trying to re-open following a crash (even if you're not aware).

Stopping the process

  • First, right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager. You can also make the key combination CONTROL + ALT + DELETE. If you're running Windows Vista, choose "Task Manager".
  • Click the Processes tab

  • In the process list, click on firefox.exe
  • Validate by clicking the Stop or End Process
  • And now, you can now start Firefox.
