Windows Update – Detection Frequency Configuration





You can change the Update detection frequency on windows because windows does automatically searches for updates!

By the registry


Save the registry database if necessary.
  • Open the Registry Editor
  • Locate the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
  • Create a new key with the name WindowsUpdate (Edit menu> New> Key)
  • Create a new key under this key and give it the name
  • In this key, create a DWORD value with the name Detection Frequency Enabled (Edit menu> New> DWORD Value).
  • Please double click this value and put 1.
  • Create another DWORD value with the name DetectionFrequency.
  • Make a double click on it and put the frequency of detection of updates you want in hours.
  • Restart your PC to apply the changes.

On the Control Panel


Vista

  • Go to Start> Control Panel.
  • Click "Check for Updates".
  • Click "Edit Settings".
  • Choose the option you want and click OK. The changes are applied immediately.

XP

  • Go to Start> Control Panel.
  • Click on "Security Center"
  • Click "
    Automatic Updates
    "



Choose the option you want and click OK. The changes are applied immediately.
