Save/Import your Messenger contacts
Always make a backup of your contact list, it’s very useful when creating a new account Messenger, or in case of crash account (yes! This can happen).
The goal is to register its current list of contacts in a hard disk, and thus be able to recover at any time.
Save the list of contacts
- Open Windows Live Messenger.
- Click on "Contacts" from the menu bar.
- Then click on Save Instant Messaging contacts.
Choose a place in the HDD (documents, office ...) to deposit the backup.
You can change the name of the list, but the file name must end with "
. Ctt.
Confirm with "
Save."
Import contact list
Once the Messenger contact list stored on the computer, simply import it into a new or a second Messenger. This avoids adding one to one contacts.
- Open Windows Live Messenger.
- Click on "Contacts" from the menu bar.
- Then choose "Import Instant Messaging Contacts".
- Select your previously saved list, then click "Open."
- A warning message will inform adding contacts to your account.
- Confirm with "Yes".
- The contacts will be added to your Messenger.
