Installing Windows XP on a SATA hard drive
You can install Windows XP on a SATA hard drive… It may not be easy as the system can’t boot the required drivers (SATA) for the motherboard. So, SP2 runs SATA drivers but sometimes the driver can’t be recognized.
Motherboard Model
You should have updated SATA drivers for your motherboard as well as to identify the exact model of your motherboard.
Downloading SATA drivers
These drivers are available on every manufacturer official websites. This the place where you can find all the drivers needed for your motherboard!
Windows Installation
With floppy
You have to set the BIOS to boot from CD / DVD Rom. After inserting the windows installation disk just follow the steps. Then the Windows Application will appear at the bottom, just press F6 for windows to provide drivers allowing third parties accessing the SATA hard drive.
Without floppy
If you have downloaded the SATA drivers… you still have a solution, add the drivers (decompressed prior to the Windows XP Installation CD-ROM)
Windows will identify your SATA Hard Drive.
Another way
If you don’t have the SATA drivers required… just disable SATA mode on your BIOS settings. Remember this will reduce your hard disk performance.
Note that if you wish to Install XP and Vista on dual boot… do not disable SATA mode this disturb your Vista Settings.
