Google Talk - Configuring the software







You may have noticed it, GOoGLe tAlK is launched automatically after installation. Fist of all you must sign in. You only have to enter your Gmail account in the fields "Username Gmail:" and also a "Password." You can tick the box "Remember my password". Finally click on the button "Connect".

Once logged in, click "Settings" located on the upper edge of the interface, a window will appear.


Under "General" option, you can configure the following options:
  • Start automatically when Windows starts - this box is checked by default. Not very useful.
  • Open Gmail when I click on a link e-mail - select this check box to automatically switch to Gmail when clicking on an email address.
  • List of friends - it is very easy to make many fast friends on Talk by checking the "Add to my list of friends with whom you communicate often. The other three check boxes allow you to hide and sort your contacts.
  • Change the font - choose here the font and font size used by talk, whether in posts or the software interface.
  • Enable diagnostic logging - this function should be activated at the request of technical support Google Talk. This is a troubleshooting tool for sending information on problems encountered .


The Chat tab is visible only when you are connected. Here you decide how to proceed on the record of your conversations .

"Blocked Contacts" : list the people with whom you no longer want to communicate with. Revert changes by clicking the "Unblock” option.

Sound and/or visual prompt, the occurrence of certain events.. To do this, select the check boxes in the tab "Notifications".

If you access the Internet through a proxy server, define it in the "Connection Tab."

If you have a microphone and speakers, you can converse with persons having the same piece of equipment. Select "Audio" tab and choose the device input / output audio (microphone, headphones or loudspeakers).

The last tab "Appearance” allow you to customize the chat window. Select the theme you want.
