Having a fix IP address under Windows XP
Often, it is necessary to have a fixed IP address, especially in cases where there is a network of several PCs at home.
This requires this information by doing:
Start
Run and type "
cmd" and press "
Enter"
In the window, type "
ipconfig / all"
Press "
Enter" and you will see information
How do I disable the connection and create a shortcut to connect:
- Start
- Control Panel
- Network connections (if you do not see it, left click on "Switch to Classic View")
- Right click on your "network connection" and then "Create Shortcut"
- A shortcut will appear on your desktop
- Let's put it in the Quick Launch
- To disconnect, right click on the active connection icon on your taskbar then select "disable"
To connect, in the Quick Launch-click on this icon:
Time to configure the network connection:
- Start
- Control Panel

- Click "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)" then "Properties"
- Click "Use the following IP address" and you use the previous information to meet the different cases as below:

Advanced" then "
WINS" and check "
disable NetBios"

OK" then "
Close" and restart your connection
