Online Forms-The input fields
What type of Data will lyou use
On most forms, all the information are not "mandatory". In many cases, however, it is not easy to quickly identify which fields are required.
It is important to distinguish clearly the fields mandatory fields optional (or vice versa). In general, it will indicate the optional fields.
The means to distinguish these fields are varied. Most often this before an asterisk fields tells the user they are mandatory or optional. In all cases, clear guidelines should be presented to the top of the form and not the end.
How do I enter information
This is to indicate the format of data entry. For example, the inclusion of a date of birth may take several forms, depending on the country (or culture) that is: For example, in France: DD / MM / YY, DD / MM / YYYY, DDMMYY ,
The organization of fields
The fields will be organized, e.g presented in a sequence that is relevant to the tasks users. For example, fields relating to the postal address must be presented in an order which the user expects. In this case, however, special attention should be paid not only to the fields but also their relevance (to specific compatibility of individual countries).
In other words, the fields must be organized either according to the source of information to enter, or according to semantic information (address, zip code, city, etc..), Or in the sequence "logic" of filling the form when the order can be established, or by important fields (fields required / optional) or by the frequency of filling the fields.
Separate fields
To facilitate the exploration of visual forms, input fields are grouped and the groups separated from each other by spaces, frames, colors or other visual cue
The organization of fields and titles
When should you align the titles of the fields on the left and when should they be aligned to the right near the fields?
The positioning of the securities field compared to the latter depends on simple rules. If the evidence does not differ in length by more than 6 characters, they must be left justified. Otherwise, and if it is not possible to shorten them, they will be aligned to the right (unless it is a form for entering information from a paper form).
Field length
Where appropriate, the expected length of seizures should be documented with field length appropriate to the number of characters expected.
