FTP Servers and file sharing!





Sending large files to friends using e-mail is not always easy. Most mail servers do not accept files larger than 5MB

However, there are alternatives:

FTP Servers




If you have permanent access to the Internet (eg ADSL), you can install an FTP server on your computer and give the address to your friends. There are free servers like FTP Server TypSoftFTP.

The Web Server (HTTP)


You can even install a web server like: pi3web. Xitami, Apache, TinyWeb, etc

Hosting Website for temporary files


If you do not want install a server on your computer, there are some web sites that can accommodate your temporary files like rapidshare or megaupload.

Rapidshare




Rapidshare is the most famous file hosting website, you can upload to 200mb.

Simple Steps:
• Upload a file on the website.
• Obtain a Link (URL) which the website will give to you.
• Share the URL to your friends.
• They will therefore be able to download the file uploaded using the URL.
